A course on stem cell differentiation  

Up to now, molecules involved in early lineage commitment in ES cells have been identified in a highly targeted manner. The Stem Cell Fate Laboratory (SCF Lab) was started at the Institute of Genetics and Biophysics Adriano Buzzati-Traverso (Igb-Cnr) with the aim to develop new tools for the identification and characterization of Es cell modulators, by the screening of large collections of either molecules (synthetic or natural) or genes (structural and regulatory).

This course has been designed to provide a detailed practical training in the basic techniques to work with Embryonic Stem Cells (Escs). It is intended to offer on-site hands-on training in experimental procedures for culturing Escs of mouse and human origin. Moreover, participant will also familiarize with specific protocols for the in vitro production of differentiated progeny (cardiomyocytes and neural cells) from mouse Escs and with experimental methods for their phenotypic characterization. The course, that will be held at Igb-Scf Lab, will consist on a combination of theoretical and laboratory education. A series of lectures will familiarize the participants with the underlying theory and concepts for current work with Es cells.

The course will be in Italian and the number of participants is limited to 20. The cost is  € 800,00 (IVA included).
