Traditional food: hope or contraddiction

The meeting will take place on May 6 in Milan, in the in the framework of Expo 2015. It will be coordinated by Andrea Scaloni, researcher at Cnr-Institute for Animal Production System in Mediterranean Environment (Ispaam).

In this context, the 'Italian typical products' will be discussed as a virtuous example of exploitation of the biodiversity present in a National territory in a process of sustainable development, whose model of governance may be exported in the Emerging Countries with the aim to guarantee the economic and social growth. Experts will illustrate the most recent studies and technological innovations developed in this context, such as manufacturing of the goods, and novel diagnostic approaches to ensure their quality, safety and traceability.

An important segment of the Italian food productions is made of 'typical products', which are endowed worldwide for the high quality of their raw materials, their sapient manufacturing and their strict relationship with the provenance territories. Their output has significant economical, sociological and environmental impacts and consequences, accordingly, they have been considered as strategic productions for Italy.
