Vertebrates developed a sophisticated musculature much earlier than previously thought

An international research team presents  the first miraculously preserved musculature of a fossil fish, discovered in north-west Australia. This discovery will help scientists to better understand how neck and abdominal muscles evolved during the transition from jawless to jawed vertebrates. The paper is published in 'Science'

Genetics of dyslexia and language impairment unraveled

A new study of the genetic origins of dyslexia and other learning disabilities could allow for earlier diagnoses and more successful interventions, according to researchers at Yale School of Medicine. Many students now are not diagnosed until high school, at which point treatments are less effective. The research is published in the 'American Journal of Human Genetics'
